After he realised that he cant help everybody (like the superhero guy ). House isnt equipped to deal with mental patients. In the episode the medication guy was looking for the side effects so they did deal with the side effects. They didnt show house getting them when he started actually taking them probably because they only had a 2 hour time limit. House got better not because of the meds but because he wanted to.
